This 18 year Highland area single malt Scotch has been matured in sherry oak from Jerez, Spain, picking up a darker copper color.
The nose is a sweet maple with vanilla and orange.
The flavor profile is subtle, asking you to tease them out rather than hitting you over the head with bold notes. The 86° proof shows through with a light burn and teams up with the cinnamon notes to give a spicy warmth, a small nip on the palate. The dried oranges and florals bathe the tongue with a buttery feel.
It exists leaving a mealy grain afterthought.
A solid performer.
