As a “pure malt” this is a blend of single malts without any grain whiskies. It labels itself as a “Highland” whisky, but what that means for the malts it contains is unclear.
A straightforward nose, you’ll get some orange and, dare I say, band-aid? I think this is the first time I’ve been willing to put that into print, but I’d have to say it’s accurate. I hesitate because it certainly doesn’t sound appealing, but it works!
It does threaten an ambush of peat, but it quickly gives way to a smooth mix of florals, orange and raisin.
The peat and raisin hold on into the finish to round out this enjoyable dram.
