This expression carries no age statement and comes in at 86 proof. The nose on this is very delicate and requires a bit of concentration to pick out any individual aromas, and then those are mostly gentle hints of barely.
The tasting experience matches the understated character of the nose. It is straightforward without any overbearing flavors. It has a front of smoke/peat that blends in with the malts and traces of dried orange and florals. An undercurrent of brine is felt throughout.
On the way out, oak and toast bubble to the surface leaving the finish a little chewy.
Overall a nice experience. It won’t blow you out of the water, but it’s easy to appreciate and enjoy.
